Its a Bees life

I spent one weekend chasing bees in the Kershaw Gardens – Rockhampton, trying out my Vivitar Series 1 Macro lens.  As seen previously it works wonderfully on portraits, and here you can see the quality of the lens on the Bee world.

When photographing bees, I soon realised that it is better to find a nice flower, and wait for them to come to you, and try not to get stung – than chase them from flower to flower.  They always go around the flower in the clockwise movement, and love the newer flowers.

This last photo is of a native bee – not the usual feral honey bees.

These are such brilliant macros Geoffrey, I especially like the first one. These should have been included in this list by Smashing Magazine.

Great link on the macro shots Jylan, the link has some great Macro shots, not sure mine are up to that standard yet, but has given me some ideas.
